Good Work Issue #12
Airbnb's radical staff offer, Bitpanda's culture, menopause in the spotlight and more.
Hello,
A very warm welcome to the twelfth issue of Good Work.
“Uber, the world’s largest taxi company, owns no vehicles. Facebook, the world’s most popular media owner, creates no content. Alibaba, the most valuable retailer, has no inventory. And Airbnb, the world’s largest accommodation provider, owns no real estate. Something interesting is happening” wrote Tom Goodwin a few years ago.
This thought pops into my head every time I’ve written something about one of these companies. And, no more so than this month when publishing our feature on what Airbnb are offering their staff in a post Covid world. Yes, they are preaching to the choir when it comes to their youthful, travel loving staff, but it’s still a fascinating, bold approach.
It’s also been great to shine a light on the often ignored or misunderstood issue of the menopause in the workplace, in our latest spotlight piece. I learnt a lot, so would urge you to read, if this is something you are unfamiliar with.
Happy reading and thanks for the support.

”Today, we’re turning the page to the start of a new chapter. I’m excited to share our design for where and how we’ll work together going forward. We started this process by asking a simple question—where is the world going?” Find out what AirBnB CEO Brian Chesky believes, and what it means for their staff all over the world.
Spotlight: How can a menopause-friendly workplace boost inclusion?
“Businesses cannot claim to have complete equality in the workplace unless they address the issues affecting all demographics…”
Many employers are working hard to ensure that discrimination at work is eliminated, however, there are still vast discrepancies in the way that people experiencing menopause symptoms are treated by their colleagues and employer. In our latest spotlight, Caroline Drewe, Clinical Director at Latus Health asks how a menopause-friendly workplace can boost inclusion.
